Winter and cold weather
Tesla's cold-weather advice for Cybertruck: preconditioning, frozen charge ports, tire pressure, charging and road salt.
- Precondition: schedule it about 30–45 minutes before you drive to warm the battery and cabin.
- Frozen charge port latch: use the charge port heater in Controls › Service, or Defrost from the app, for about 30–45 minutes. Don't force the port.
- Fast charging: navigate to Superchargers with Trip Planner so the battery warms on the way.
- Slow 120V charging: Tesla advises against relying on very low-power (120V, under 2 kW) charging in cold temperatures.
- Tires: pressure drops about 1 psi for every 10°F (6°C) drop in outside temperature. If the tire-pressure light comes on, inflate before driving. Winter tires or chains help on snow and ice.
- Road salt: rinse it from the underside, wheel wells and brakes, and remove it promptly from the stainless panels.
- Brakes: where roads are salted, Tesla recommends cleaning and lubricating the brake calipers every year or 12,500 miles.
