Towing with a Cybertruck

Towing limits by trim, tongue weight, tire pressures for towing, hitch-mounted carriers, and the setup steps in the owner's manual.

Keep tongue weight around 10% of total trailer weight, never above the maximums. Heavy cargo or passengers in the truck reduce what it can tow, and the figures assume you don't exceed GVWR. If the hitch label disagrees with the manual, the manual takes precedence. Towing damage isn't covered by the warranty.

Tire pressures when towing

TiresCold pressure when towing
18" All Season50 psi
20" All Season50 psi
20" All Terrain65 psi
When towing, these pressures override the door-pillar Tire and Loading label. Check them cold: about 1 mile of driving warms tires enough to change the reading. Never tow on a faulty tire or one inflated with a tire repair kit.

Before you pull out

  1. Check your state's towing rules.
  2. Inflate tires to the towing pressures above.
  3. With air suspension, match ride height to the trailer; Tesla recommends Low.
  4. Distribute the load so tongue weight is about 10% of the trailer weight.
  5. Engage Trailer Mode, then calibrate the trailer brakes.
  6. Adjust mirrors; use towing mirrors for larger trailers.

Hitch-mounted carriers

Carrier limits are lower than tongue weight because the load sits farther from the hitch. Tesla's examples: 4-bike carrier 220 lb, motorcycle carrier 370 lb, including the carrier itself.

Range while towing

Tesla doesn't publish a towing range figure. Expect a large drop and plan charging stops with margin. Our range illustration is a rough model, not a prediction. See also Tires and wheels.

General owner information, not factory service instructions. If anything here conflicts with your owner's manual or the Release Notes in your truck, those win.
